Meaning and history
Portal is a game by Valve, which deserves the title of a real masterpiece in the industry. The puzzle game is included in The Orange Box set, along with Half-Life 2: Episode Two and Team Fortress 2. It was added with one purpose – to fuel interest in the final part of the Gordon Freeman trilogy, but Portal became a completely independent unit, and later two more parts of the game were released.
The first-person puzzle game Portal was released on Windows, macOS, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 in 2007. The game was hailed as one of the most innovative games ever made and instantly gained a multi-million fan base around the world. The game offers anyone to spend a few hours of unlike anything else puzzle game, the events of which take place in the same universe as Half-Life.
In Portal, players must solve physics puzzles and find their way out of difficult situations by opening portals to move objects and themselves through space. The player takes control of one of the participants of the experiment conducted by Aperture Science, a girl named Chell. It is Chell who has to pass all the tests, and the portal gun will help her with this.
In the first half of the game, Portal teaches you how to use portals and the physics of the game, and then places you in an unconventional environment to use your knowledge and logic to solve unconventional problems. This approach is perfectly engaging, so you won’t want to tear yourself away from the game.

The visual identity of the Valve online game is minimalist is trendy, though it was designed in 2007, it looks actual and trendy today. Composed of a logotype with one graphical element in it, the Portal insignia is fresh and inviting.
